When did you start working with Lynchburg Parks and Recreation?

January 2020

What do you love most about working for Lynchburg Parks and Recreation?

I love the friendliness and professionalism of the staff! Everyone has been so welcoming and helpful. I also love that I can get outside and work on great projects for city residents to help improve everyone’s quality of life. Working in Lynchburg has reminded me how wonderful this City really is.

Which park or trail is your favorite so far?

I adore Riverside Park, with its rich history and lovely trees and landscaping. My daughter takes her baby girl there several times a week, and we love walking through the park when the cherry trees are in blossom. I am excited to be working on improvements to the park, including repairs and conservation work on the Marshall Packet Boat and the Riverside Swimming Pool area.

What is your favorite Lynchburg Parks and Recreation memory?

So hard to pick just one. I come from a planning and community development background. This is my first position in a Parks & Rec Department! I have loved getting to know the trails and walking throughout all the parks – from Ivy Creek and Clemmons Lake to Blackwater Creek Natural Area, to the new Langhorne Trestle Bridge project and the Nature Zone. It was really fun sending pictures of the work in progress on top of the old railroad bridge to my friends in England – they were quite jealous of how much fun I have working here! I am grateful to be able to get outside and keep projects moving safely and efficiently, so our residents can enjoy our beautiful parks and trails. Every day is wonderful.
