Are you looking to host a large event in a park, trail or on any Lynchburg City property? Lynchburg is a great place to enjoy many diverse private, cultural and civic events. Throughout the year dozens of large and small events are conducted on City streets, public property, parks and public facilities. Events can be as intimate as a family reunion or birthday party, or as large as the Virginia Ten-Miler! The City has many different facilities and locations, and one of them is sure to be the right choice for your event.

The City of Lynchburg grants different permits for different kinds of events. The process provides citizens and event organizers a single point of contact to make coordinating City services as simple as possible. Follow the steps below to make sure you have the permit you need.

  1.  Fill out the Facility, Park Use, and Special Event Questionnaire and submit to the Parks & Recreation staff. At this point, you will be directed to the correct permit to complete. The questionnaire will tell you what kind of event permit you need. If you need a simple use or expanded use permit, you can download them from the links in the above paragraph.
  2.  Fill out the Simple Use or Expanded Use permit depending on which permit you are directed to use by the Parks & Recreation Staff. Please note that there is a non-refundable $25.00 fee for an Expanded Use Application.
  3. If you and City staff have determined that you will need a Special Event Permit, please read the City of Lynchburg’s Special Events Guidelines and email Mauresa Nenadovich, or call at 434-485-7295 before filling out a permit. Make sure to note that new event permits, and recurring event permits, must be completed 90 days in advance.
