Touch a turtle…see a snake…or just take in the “wild” sights. The Nature Zone is an environmental education center that offers a world of fun and excitement for all ages!
The Nature Zone is excited to be located on the first floor of the beautiful, historic Miller Center! Each of our carefully selected displays are focused on our local watershed and homes for the Nature Zone animals. We also offer Discovery Drawers for visitors to explore. We are FREE and open to the public.
Here are some happenings and activities you can experience at the Nature Zone:
- Animal Feedings
- Discovery Drawers
- Exhibits about Central VA Ecosystem
- Q&A with Naturalists
- Classes & Camps
- Adopt an Animal
Adopt an Animal
By adopting an animal, you get to choose which animal you would like to help fund, and for how long. If you adopt an animal, we will post your name in the Nature Zone to let everyone know you helped that animal. If you adopt for a month or more, we will give you a public thank you on Facebook. If you adopt for a year, we will post your name next to the animals cage so all who walk by will know you supported that animal. Support can range from $1.00 a week for some animals to $6.00 a week for others. Contact the Nature Zone at 434-455-5828 or NatureOutdoors@lynchburgva.gov if you have questions
Enter the lower level through the double doors from the Wadsworth Street parking lot.
