Beginning Wednesday, September 7, 2016, through Friday, September 9, 2016, the Blackwater Creek Bikeway (a section of the Blackwater Creek Trail) will be closed between mileposts 2.0 and 3.0 to install a drainage trench to redirect storm water. The construction of the trench and ancillary work will be completed by the end of the business day on Friday, September 9.
Trail users will be able to access the downtown trail system through the Point Honor Trail, which can be accessed through Hollins Mill and the Point of Honor bridge across from milepost 3.0 of the Blackwater Creek trail.
The construction work is necessary to eliminate erosion of the trail surface caused by storm water flowing across the trail. As the project includes major equipment, the public is asked to obey all signage and use caution while in the vicinity of the construction area.
