About Lynchburg Parks & Recreation

The City of Lynchburg Department of Parks and Recreation offers a variety of services and activities to residents and visitors. We maintain 17 parks which offer organized and open recreation, picnic areas, fishing, canoeing and kayaking, and children’s play areas. Over 40 miles of trail wind through Lynchburg and are suited for a variety of activity including walking, mountain biking, hiking and running. Community residents enjoy the use of nine recreation centers which are utilized for planned group programs, meetings, and outdoor amenities.

In addition, Lynchburg Parks and Recreation facilitates many events for outside organizations. We invite you to explore our website and  Find Your Fun with us!

LYNCHBURG DOG PARKA quick update on our repairs

The small park is scheduled to open on March 22. The large park is scheduled to open on April 5. At that time, we will need to close the small park again to reseed the grass and establish a better turf. We have that project to be completed by June 7. The entire dog park will be open and available for use then.
