The leaves are falling! The leaves are falling! Catch the last of the beautiful autumn scenery before it’s gone. Let’s take a look at the top 5 places in Lynchburg parks and on Lynchburg trails to spend the weekend ahead.
1. Miller Park
Food Truck Thursdays has concluded for the season but Miller Park is still a great place to spend a fall afternoon. Bring the kids and play in the leaves or take the family’s fall photo with an elegant backdrop of the Aviary. Miller Park is full of red and orange this season.
Leaves are falling down all along the trail of Blackwater Creek. Come take a walk and hear the crisp sound under your feet. Don’t forget our parks and trails are dog friendly! Bring your furry friend with you on your next outing.
Hollins Mill is a real treat in the fall season–a beautiful mix of green, red, and orange backdrop against the Dam. Bring a blanket and pack a few sandwiches and relax in the grass for an old fashioned picnic. The weather is predicted to reach low 60s so don’t forget a light jacket and some hot chocolate!
Tucked away in the west side of the city, Ivy Creek Park offers more than just a great view. Bring your fishing pole and enjoy catching trout and catfish at Clemmons Lake, or enjoy a stroll on the trail following the edge of the lake.
This is the ideal location to experience a few moments of serenity in one of our most popular parks. The site overlooks the James River from the south side.
Whichever park or trail you end up on remember to capture the radiant scenery and tag #LynchburgParksAndRec on Instagram so we can share in your autumn adventures! Happy leaf-peeping.
