Back to School Lynchburg

There’s nothing more exciting than the start of a new school year. New friends, new teachers, maybe even a new school. Whether you are new to the Lynchburg City School System or are on a first-name basis with the teachers, mark your calendars for the Back to School Celebration at Miller Park and Miller Center Saturday, August 15, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

This is the day to prep you and your child/children for the upcoming year. Meet and speak with  Lynchburg City School (LCS) teachers, principals, and Superintendent Dr. Scott S. Brabrand! Enjoy the music, games, food trucks, and prizes at this celebratory event. You’ll also learn about the many services LCS offers their students to succeed. For more information on Back to School Celebration, call 434-515-5000.

Additionally, Lynchburg Parks and Recreation representatives will be present with information on our new School’s Out! program. LCS has added 15 days off throughout the school year and, although the students may be thrilled, they still may need to be supervised outside of your home. Our School’s Out! program is the solution. For $100, students can visit either Fairview Center or Daniel’s Hill Center on their days off of school for this full-day program; including indoor and outdoor games and open recreation. For more information on School’s Out!, call Charlotte Lester at 434-455-5857.

This Saturday marks a huge celebration for back to school. So, Miller Park Pool is hosting a special deal for students who sport their school tshirt! $1 off regular price admission from noon-6 p.m.

Come join in the fun and learn all about the wonderful Lynchburg City School System!
