Be the first in Lynchburg to try this fun and exhilarating new sport! A cross between soccer and “Zorbing”—a sport that involves rolling downhill in a giant plastic orb—Bubble Soccer puts a hilarious twist on traditional soccer. While attempting to score goals against their opponents, players wear “Battle Balls” and try to knock each other down in the process.

What’s it Like?

Played under the lights at City Stadium, Bubble Soccer begins much like a competitive version of Dodgeball. Teams of five players rush into the center of the field to try and score goals against the other team all while wearing their Battle Ball suit and trying to knock down opponents in any way possible. Keep in mind: this game is extremely athletic and player will tire quickly on the field, so a roster of 10 players is suggested to keep the ball rolling (see what we did there?).  Plus, a team of ten allows for more switching out during game play and keeps your individual participation cost down!

Tell Me More

There are five adult (aged 16+) players allowed on the field at a time, with a minimum of one female player on the field at all times. There are no goalies or goal keeping, but players can rush through an area of the goal to keep the other team from scoring. In terms of the goal itself, we will be using a lacrosse goal rather than a soccer goal to increase the chance of scoring – you know, when you’ve got a large inflatable ball over your body and five people running towards you to knock you down or send you flying through the air. Speaking of flying through the air, we’ll also have spotters available for those times when you can’t flip yourself back over.

We advise that players do not wear any jewelry, cleats, belts, spiked bracelets or other items that could puncture the Battle Balls during team practice or games. Also, our Bubble Soccer experts really recommend purchasing indoor sport knee pads and even shin guards if possible. We’re looking out for you here – this game is truly intense!

We will hold team practices during the week of 10/19 – 10/23, where our Bubble Soccer experts will give your team some basic instruction and how-to sessions. After you’ve got the basics down, we’ll go through some fun games and battle rounds to make sure you’ve really got the hang of the game. Then, games begin that next week. But, don’t worry if you can’t keep up with these dates just yet. Our informational meeting will be held on 9/22 at Miller Center where you will get more info plus the opportunity to ask questions.
