Taste of Lynchburg Series


Safety is the top priority at Lynchburg Parks and Recreation as we continue to serve our community members with quality programs. We have implemented the following safety protocols for all of our in-person recreation programs: Assumption of Risk forms, daily health screening questionnaire, social distanced classroom set-up, face mask requirements, hand sanitation stations on site, and regular cleaning of the facilities.

Pizza Making  |  February 2

Celebrate National Pizza Day and make homemade pizza pie at JoJo’s Pizza! Participants will learn how to mold and toss dough while exploring different crusts, then how to apply toppings, followed by baking in a commercial pizza oven. After the pies are done, sit down and enjoy your fresh creation with a soft drink. Youth must be accompanied by an adult. Adults and youth must register to attend. Meet-up on-site at JoJo’s Pizza, 1400 Lakeside Dr, Lynchburg. Register by 1/28.



Chocolate Pie  |  February 23

Satisfy your sweet tooth with a chocolate pie and raspberry topping! Saige Sutton, from Montana Plains Bakery, will guide participants step by step to make this impressive dessert you will want to bring to your next gathering with family or friends. Each participant will leave with a chocolate pie to take home! Register by 2/19.

Irish Colcannon Soup  |  March 9

Ward off the last few cold weeks of winter with homemade soup! Saige Sutton, from Montana Plains Bakery, will guide participants step by step to make Colcannon soup from Ireland containing potatoes and leeks. Each participant will leave with soup to take home and enjoy or store for later! Register by 3/5.

Unicorn Cake Decorating   |  March 20

Join Gabrielle Gerling from Sugar Blush Bakery for a kids cake decorating class! Gabrielle will guide participants in how to decorate their own one of a kind unicorn cake. Build your cake decorating skills and have fun being creative! Cost includes all materials. Register by 3/17.

Homemade Quiche   |  April 20

Looking for a new and fast on-the-go meal for breakfast or lunch? Saige Sutton, from Montana Plains Bakery, will guide participants step by step to make quiche with homemade crust. Participants will create a quiche loaded with healthy vegetables and have the option of adding meat. Register by 4/16.

Tea 101  |  April 22

Join Grains of Sense owner, Tom Hayman, for an introductory course on tea. Tom will share the benefits of different teas along with origins, history, and brewing techniques. Participants will have the opportunity to sample different teas and take home a packet of their favorite tea flavor. Register by 4/19.

Cake Decorating Skills | Piping 101  |  May 1

Sugar Blush Bakery’s founder and owner, Gabrielle Gerling, will help you enhance your cake decorating skills! Piping is a skill in which icing is applied to a cake with a piping bag to create decorative lines and shapes, adding dimension to the cake. Different colors of buttercream icing will be available and each participant will be provided with a cake to decorate during the program and take home. Cost includes all materials. Register by 4/28
