Salute to Veterans

Veterans Try the Wheel Workshop |  November 4  |  6:00pm

Veterans are invited to a special night out at the art studio to play with clay and learn the basics of wheel thrown pottery in a 2-hour workshop. Participants will not be able to keep pieces, but will walk away with knowledge of the art form. Spots are limited, register by 11/1.

The World at War | World War II  |  November 9  |  7:00pm

The Second World War involved virtually every part of the world during the years 1939 to 1945. There were up to 50,000,000 deaths making World War II make it the bloodiest conflict, as well as the largest war in history. Jim Belcher, a military history buff, will discuss WWII and its global effect on creating our current world political structure. Register by 11/06.

Veterans Day Coffee & Trail Rides  |  November 11  |  8:30am–12:00pm

This Veterans Day, Lynchburg Parks and Recreation has teamed up with Nomad Coffee and Cycling Without Age to honor those who have served with a free cup of coffee and a ride along the Blackwater Creek Trail.

Stop by the Ed Page entrance at 1720 Langhorne Rd between 8:30am and Noon, visit Nomad Coffee’s permanent location by the Awareness Garden, and hop on a trishaw piloted by trained volunteers.

Vietnam War Remembered  |  November 19  |  2:00pm

Learn about the Vietnam War through the eyes of a veteran. David Stokes, the President of Vietnam Veterans Chapter 196, discusses the Vietnam War and its impact on our country, and the soldiers who returned home after the war. The 29th Division Band will entertain with a program of military music. Seating is limited, please register by 11/16.
