Safety is the top priority at Lynchburg Parks and Recreation as we continue to serve our community members with quality programs. We have implemented the following safety protocols for all of our in-person recreation programs: Assumption of Risk forms, daily health screening questionnaire, social distanced classroom set-up, face mask requirements, hand sanitation stations on site, and regular cleaning of the facilities.

Experience Italy without leaving Lynchburg! Parliamo Italiano is an introduction to the Italian language taught by a native Italian speaker. This is a no pressure, dynamic class, designed to develop listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. Students will learn how to express themselves in Italian in everyday situations and gain new insights into Italian culture and society through Francesca’s personal stories and anecdotes of growing up in Italy. All supplies provided. Register by 10/3.

Francesca was born and raised in a seaside resort town just south of Rome, Italy.  She came to the United States as a child and has traveled back and forth between the two countries on a regular basis.  She is a graduate of Temple University in Philadelphia where she graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in French and Italian literature.  She has had the joy of sharing her culture and teaching Italian to adults and children for over ten years. In addition to teaching, she has done extensive translation work and is an Italian medical interpreter. Francesca, true to Italian form, has a passion for cooking and baking.  She is currently experimenting with gluten-free Italian dolci (yes, it’s possible to be Italian and gluten-free)
