Printmaking | February 8–15

Join local artist, Red Cesafsky, and learn how to do Monotype printmaking. Two techniques will be demonstrated in a 2-session class, the Trace Monotype and the Reductive/Additive Monotype. These techniques are different from most printmaking in that they produce singular and unique prints; no two prints are exactly alike! All materials are provided in this workshop. Register by 2/5.

Red Cesafsky grew up in Lynchburg and graduated from Lynchburg College in 2018 with a BFA. They make and sell up-cycled clothing with fellow artist, Anna M. Filiaggi, and sell their services as a commission artist online.

Mandala Painting | March 8

Learn from local artist, Darienne Montgomery, how to paint a mandala. Use the technique of pointillism, using small dots of color to create the image of a mandala. All materials will be provided. Register by 3/5.

Darienne Montgomery is a Lynchburg, Virginia native who graduated from Holy Cross and earned a Bachelors from Virginia Commonwealth University majoring in Mass Communications and minoring in psychology. She has been a lifelong artist and explorer starting photography, painting, and writing when she was in elementary school, and went on her first trip abroad in high school. She draws a great deal of inspiration from her home in the Appalachian Mountains as well as from her travels to the East, particularly Australia and Thailand. Now, she is working to build her own painting business, is Vice President of the Lynchburg Art Club, and is enrolled in Randolph College to start her formal training in Studio Art. She is excited to be with you and share the knowledge she has accumulated from her own creative explorations.

LYNCHBURG DOG PARKA quick update on our repairs

The small park is scheduled to open on March 22. The large park is scheduled to open on April 5. At that time, we will need to close the small park again to reseed the grass and establish a better turf. We have that project to be completed by June 7. The entire dog park will be open and available for use then.
