DESCRIPTION:A series of six workshops for adults and teens who have never taken a tap dance class\, or have had less than 6 months of classes. Students will learn basic\, fundamental tap skills and steps to build a solid basic level of technique including shuffles\, flaps\, cramp rolls\, Irish\, shuffle ball change\, etc. Building upon fundamentals\, students will begin to learn unique combinations. SUMMARY:Teen and Adult Beginner and Intermediate Tap Dance
DESCRIPTION:Dancers ages 13+ will be introduced to tap dancing or will build upon their existing tap-dancing skills during this six-week summer session. The class will be taught at a gentle pace\, and each week will introduce more complex combinations and choreography. Steps may be modified to fit the ability level of the individual student. Some knowledge of tap dance is preferred for beginner dancers. There will be a short performance on the last day of class for family and friends to enjoy. Tap shoes are required. No class on July 6. Register by 6/18.

DESCRIPTION:Chance Dance is an innovative class that uses Merce Cunningham’s chance-based approach to choreography. Using movements taught by the instructor and created by the dancers\, cancer methods such as flipping coins and rolling dice are used to determine the combination of movements that will be used to construct a dance by the end of the session. This class is a great way for dancers to explore and expand their creative process. No prior dance experience is necessary. Dancers will dance barefoot.
