Lynchburg Parks & Recreation just celebrated in fall of 2020 the long-awaited opening of the Langhorne Trestle Trail Extension, which connects the Blackwater Creek Trail from Linkhorne Middle School to the Ed Page entrance. The department is now seeking to install an art mural on the bridge abutments under the trestle that will be a main visual attraction for vehicle traffic passing under the bridge on Langhorne Rd.
The primary goals of this mural project are:
  1. transform the bridge abutments under Langhorne Trestle Trail Extension into a cohesive artistic composition that integrates elements of movement and awakening
  2. evoke the connection of people and nature through our parklands and trails
  3. create a visually bold graphic gateway to our urban greenways
  4. brighten and stimulate our city through the presence of public art
