Ditch the traditional red roses this Valentine’s Day and write your sweet heart a personalized love song. This unique and timeless gift is sure to be a hit with your lover! Award winning song writer Catherine Backus, will introduce students to the tools and techniques needed to write their first song or enhance and polish a song already written. Students will review what makes a song successful and be introduced to setting words to music, time and pitch, melody, chord progressions, and song arrangement. New and experienced songwriters are welcome. Session will feature a morning writing workshop and lunch break, followed by an optional afternoon recording session. Students will receive a digital sound recording prior to Valentines Day to share with their sweetie. Register by 1/30.


 

About the Instructor

Catherine the great is the solo project of Catherine Backus, formerly of twin-some duo the Skipperdees. Her writing has drawn numerous accolades, including a win at the prestigious Merlefest Chris Austin Songwriting Contest and honorable mentions at both Telluride Bluegrass and Rocky Mountain Folks Festival song contests.
