At Lynchburg Parks and Recreation, we believe there are all kinds of ways to find your fun. This event invites citizens of Lynchburg and surrounding areas to design and build their very own pumpkin chucking apparatus and test out their skills in a fun, friendly competition. Members of the community are also invited to show off their culinary skills in a chili cook-off. In addition to the competition there will be various food vendors, beer, live music from Bo-Zac, and fun activities for all ages, including mini pumpkin chucks for the kiddos. Prizes will be awarded to the winners in both competitions, and admission for all spectators is free of charge. Event will be held rain or shine.
This event is FREE to attend and will be held at the Special Events Area at Lynchburg City Stadium, from 11:00am–4:00pm on Saturday, 11/4/2017.

For those interested, we have outlined three levels of sponsorship for Pumpkin Chuck 2017 in the document linked below. These levels range from $100 – $1000 in cost, with benefits ranging from social media promotion of your organization, to logo and name recognition on marketing materials and at the event. Lynchburg Parks & Recreation is accepting submissions from vendors and businesses for Pumpkin Chuck 2017! Various businesses and vendors from the Lynchburg and surrounding area are encouraged to apply. If you would like to apply to vend at the Pumpkin Chuck, please fill out the online application linked below. This fee can be paid online here, or in person at Miller Center. Fee includes one parking pass, one 10×10 tent space, one 6’ table and one chair. Please specify any additional accommodations you will need on the vendor application.
Get a team together to build a homemade catapult, slingshot, or pumpkin hurling apparatus to show off at Pumpkin Chunk, the ultimate fall competition. Let’s see how far you can make those jack-o-lanterns fly! If you are interested in competing the in the Pumpkin Chuck competition, please thoroughly read the rules and regulations and fill out the application linked below. The $35 registration fee includes parking passes for everyone on your team, a 10′ x 10′ VIP tent space for your team to hang out during the event and show off your device. The deadline to register is October 17, 2017.
If you’ve got a wicked good chili recipe you think will also soar past the competition, enter the chili contest! If you are interested in competing the in the Chili Cook-Off competition, please thoroughly read the rules and regulations and fill out the application linked below. The $15 registration fee includes one parking pass, one 10′ x 10′ tent space, one 6′ table and one chair. The deadline to register is October 15, 2017.
There will be four categories of awards for this year’s Pumpkin Chuck event.
Parking is available at City Stadium lot and on street as available. Vendors, participants, and sponsors will receive a special VIP parking pass and will be directed to parking areas upon arrival. Anyone parking in the VIP parking area without a pass will be subject to towing. Shuttles will be available for attendees who need assistance getting from the parking lot to the event area.
