The Lynchburg Parks and Recreation Arts programs offer a wide variety of classes for children, teens, and adults to assist participants in exploring their creative side. Whether your interested in drawing, painting, dance, stained glass, pottery, knitting, or multi-media art classes and programs, chances are Lynchburg Parks and Recreation offers it! All Arts programs are held at our community centers throughout Lynchburg City where participants have the chance to explore both basic and more advanced techniques with experienced instructors.
The Athletics program of the Lynchburg Parks and Recreation Department provides exciting team sports and programs for all ages throughout the community. We focus on good sportsmanship, team play, and fun activities for all participants. Our goal is to make it easier for you to start reaching a new level of fitness that fits your schedule and meets your personal goals.
Whether your interest is as far-reaching as the stars or as nearby as your own backyard, the Naturalist program staff at Lynchburg Parks and Recreation offers hands-on activities that help teach environmental awareness and resource conservation with an emphasis on interpretation, stewardship and management of local natural resources. Our trained naturalists also offer a number of exciting outdoor adventure and custom programs for civic organizations, school groups, scouts and the general public. After-School Programs at Lynchburg Parks and Recreation’s neighborhood centers provide a safe, happy place for your child to hang out after school and get that pesky homework done at a location convenient for your family. Healthy snacks, active, outdoor time, crafts activities, and tutoring are part of the daily activities at each center.
Therapeutic Recreation is a process that adapts programs for those with special needs. These fun and adaptive programs allow participants to fully engage in fun, recreational activities with minimal assistance. Programs are intended to foster a sense of accomplishment, while improving mental and cognitive abilities in a safe and nurturing environment.
