Have you heard that the City of Lynchburg is attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the World’s Largest Tree Hug? The City of Lynchburg and its event partners are committed to actually breaking the record and not just attempting the feat.

Given the specificity of the Guinness rules, the decision has been made to reschedule the tree hug event in order to have more time to develop the event site, build the volunteer base, and pre-register the all-important army of official tree huggers!

The new date for the event is Saturday, April 29, 2017, the day after Arbor Day! By rescheduling the Hug a Tree event, the City will have a better opportunity to break the official world record.

The World’s Largest Tree Hug event is designed to bring the entire community together in one fun-filled location in an attempt to break the record and more importantly to educate the public regarding environmental sustainability, as well as plant the seeds of future conservation practices.

More information about the event will be released after the New Year, including the name of the entertainment headliner, so make sure to stay tuned!
