This vibrant and engaged center offers programs for youth, adults, and families. Located near the Fifth Street Business District, and close to the Blackwater Creek Trail, there’s always adventure in store at the recently restored center.

Yoder Center was established in 1964, and is Lynchburg’s oldest neighborhood center. Built on the former site of a school building, the Yoder center was named after the former school’s principal, Jacob Yoder. Fun fact: the main room of the Yoder Center is the old cafeteria for the school.

Yoder Center is located in the Tinbridge neighborhood. With the dedication of the Aubrey Barbour Park in 2011, the center received new playground equipment, landscaping, a picnic pavilion, a newly resurfaced basketball court, and ADA compliant sidewalks and walkways.

Yoder Center also offers many recreational programs, including an after-school program for youth ages 6–17, a summer camp program, teen programs and programs for seniors.  Some community meetings also take place at the Yoder center. Stop by the center to pick up a monthly calendar or view our Programs and Activities page to see what’s coming up.
